“We tested ITmobile's fleet management equipment in October 2001. I wanted to see if this black-box solution did what they promised. The personal button used by the ITmobile system allowed me to see who had been out in a vehicle as a driver on his own or with passengers, or as a driver's mate and at what times. That’s crucial in construction, as the collective labour agreement in the Netherlands stipulates that travel time is paid in line with the employee's function during the trip.

Our people were allowed to see all the information generated by the system during the test phase. That convinced them that the information on which their hourly pay and rates were based was both objective and in accordance with the collective labour agreement. The main benefit for us as an employer was that we at last had accurate information about all the hours worked.

Our entire fleet was fitted out with ITmobile equipment in 2002. So we weren't worried by the new tax legislation relating to private and business mileage: Fieldlog provides all this information in the right form. In fact, nothing the tax people do worries me anymore! Besides all that, we recovered the investment in our ITmobile equipment in less than six months!”
