Accurate mileage information for field operatives available at last
Integra Beveiliging improves efficiency with Fieldlog
Tom van Eijk, who works for Integra Beveiliging in Zwijndrecht, the Netherlands, a company that specialises in railway security, wanted better and more meaningful information about the costs of his field operatives. It was felt that this would help Integra improve management efficiencies.
At Integra Beveiliging, 40 of the total of 50 employees work in the field. The company's ability to track the distances driven by the vehicle fleet and the hours worked was too dependent on the care with which the field staff noted the information. That made it difficult to establish travel and mileage allowances and fuel costs with any real accuracy. The company's field operatives are out on the road day and night and only visit head office sporadically. However, accurate journey logging is an important issue, particularly in view of the Dutch tax legislation relating to the private use of company vehicles. So it was important that the field operatives' mileage logs were totally consistent.
Where are they? What are they doing?
Spotlight on the people out in the field
"We want know where our vehicles and employees are at all times", says Van Eijk. So Van Eijk decided to invest in the Fieldlog vehicle tracking system in combination with GPS. This Fieldlog variant has the important advantage of allowing Integra Beveiliging to identify the exact location of each vehicle. Vehicles can be tracked at street address level. Immediate action can be taken in emergencies, as the last position of the vehicle is always known. And that is essential in the security industry.
Consistent information about journey times and mileage
Where required, the system also allows Integra to provide customers with detailed information about the route taken, along with journey times and distances. That is not just useful for customers, but for the field operatives as well as they are now able to submit consistent mileage information to the Dutch tax authorities.
