Visser & Smit Hanab (Koninklijke Volker Wessel Stevin) have purchased the Fieldlog journey logging system
The Fieldlog vehicle tracking system is the best solution available!
"We lay all kinds of utility piping and cabling in many different European countries", says Mr Kabel of Visser & Smit Hanab, a subsidiary of Koninklijke Volker Wessel Stevin. "About 500 of our vehicles are at work at various locations all over Europe every day. Our employees drive long distances to reach all the projects we have on the go. The vehicles are manned partly by single drivers and complete work teams. The driver picks up his colleagues en route and drives with them to the job. The mileage sheets and timesheets are filled out by hand and then checked and approved by our supervisors, which is very time-consuming and labour-intensive."
"We wanted a solution that would largely eradicate manual vehicle journey logging and which would provide us with more information about our administrative costs and the costs per kilometre. Furthermore, we wanted to have access to the information at an earlier stage. So we drew up a specification of our requirements and created a checklist, which we used to test a number of the vehicle tracking systems that are currently offered on the market. ITmobile was the best system for our needs."
These were the requirements identified by Visser & Smit Hanab:
- Detailed time and mileage logging
- Journey time registration for each employee in the vehicle
- Independent and automatic data transfer from the vehicle to the office
- Interface to the existing administrative software for paying travel allowances and variable salary elements
- Ability to localise vehicles using GPS technology
- Journey logging module complaint with Dutch tax authority requirements
The ideal solution: personalised journey logging using Fieldlog
Visser & Smit Hanab's employees wear their personal button ever time they get into a vehicle. Colleagues that get on the vehicle during its journey also log their presence using their button. When they arrive at the job site, they are all automatically logged off. The result: fully reconcilable journey time and mileage information for each employee.
Automatic GSM and GPRS communication with the home base in the Netherlands allows the location of the vehicles to be identified at all times. The office system processes the incoming data stream and publishes the resulting information on the company's intranet. This means that each employee can call up information about his personal business mileage, private mileage and commuting mileage. Employee's travel allowances and variable salary elements are based on the information provided by this comprehensive vehicle tracking system.
Mr Kabel comments: "At Visser en Smit Hanab, we have been able to significantly reduce the cost of running our vehicles as a direct result of the implementation of this vehicle tracking system."
